Chapel at The Inn

When we were approached to design a new chapel at the sprawling Montage Palmetto Bluff, we knew the immense responsibility we would be taking on, to create a space worthy of the weddings and special receptions to come. The community needed a larger chapel to accommodate more guests and complement the existing, more intimate May River Chapel at this unique resort.

This property represents the first launch into the East Coast for the Montage brand. We were tasked with designing something new yet still aligning with the traditional Low Country aesthetic.  The outcome is a stunning building, which draws its copper steeple, white portico columns and roman arched windows from the area’s Southern Gothic roots.

The new Somerset Chapel provides a stately welcome to the resort. The beautiful windows face east and west, taking full advantage of the spectacular natural light that falls on this property from sunrise to sunset. Streams of sunlight create a magical setting to bring dream wedding visions into stunning reality.

Every space should feel as special and filled with sacred light as this romantic Southern chapel.
